Charles River Speedway

Boston, MA

  • Adaptive Re-Use

D.F. Pray renovated the historic Charles River Speedway into a welcoming space for visitors to patronize the retail, dining, and cultural facilities within. Originally built in 1899 by the Metropolitan Park Commission, the sprawling, Shingle-style complex was designed by renowned architect William D. Austin. The revitalized complex supports a rich tenant mix and a variety of uses, including: retail shops, dining facilities, studios and maker space for local artisans, discounted offices for Charles River nonprofits, and a publicly accessible courtyard available for community events.
