Calise Bakery Manufacturing Facility

Lincoln, RI

  • General Contracting
  • Occupied Renovation

This exciting project for the Calise Family Bakery, was a multi phase project that involved working within a fully operational and occupied food manufacturing facility. We were able to work continuously on the expansion, while the user continued their 24 hour day operation, uninterrupted.

The scope of work for the freezer expansion included excavation and back fill for the new foundations and slab on grade, rerouting and adding to the existing drainage system, and relocating existing and adding mechanical, electrical, and plumbing feeds and equipment to the new space. The new dock location required D.F. Pray to reroute traffic and parking and create a new parking lot with driveway access to both the dock and the newly created parking area. The scope further included relocating the existing freezer, adding a new freezer and sub-phasing of the dismantling of the existing freezer and its contents.

We created an insulated demising wall that supported one half of the existing freezer roof, while maintaining the temperature within the freezer. The work involved demolition, cutting, patching, and construction of a ±14,250 sq. ft. addition to the existing Bakery. The addition houses a new baking line, partial mezzanine, loading docks, and support spaces with all associated site work, structure, sprinklers, plumbing, wiring, and mechanical systems.
