Initially designed as an annex to the existing building to house an oyster hatchery laboratory, cost considerations required the re-evaluation of the original design and instead the implementation of an addition. The 4,000 sq. ft. addition consists of a single-story structure and roof that is flat with atrium glass skylights. The building was designed with considerations for future floor level and includes many features such as a sea water system, garden roof, greenhouse, and a pathology section.
